The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has taken no position to support or oppose the Mecklenburg County Transit Tax (PAVE Act) that is on the ballot November 4th. In a meeting earlier this year, the Chamber Board did vote to support allowing the voters of Mecklenburg County to decide themselves the measure in a referendum.
The Chamber of Commerce did coordinate an August briefing on the proposed sales tax measure in a Focus Friday program held at the Chamber and presented by Larry Shaheen - Attorney with The McIntosh Law Firm. The presentation which was decidedly in favor of the transit tax was recorded and can be viewed at:
An October 1st WSIC Town Talk features three speakers in opposition to the tax:
Karl L. de la Guerra - Founder & CEO, KDI Protective Services
Jennifer Watson Roberts - Former Charlotte Mayor and former Mecklenburg County Commission chair
Brian Sisson - Chief Technology Officer at The Range Companies
That program will be added to this landing page on Thursday, October 2, 2025
