Chamber History
Today, the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce continues to build upon the vision established by its founders by serving as the region's leading advocate for business, economic development, and community collaboration. Representing more than 900 businesses and organizations throughout Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Mooresville, Denver, Troutman, North Charlotte, and the greater Lake Norman region, the Chamber has grown into one of North Carolina's most active and respected regional business organizations. While the communities we serve have experienced tremendous growth over the past four decades, the Chamber's commitment to strengthening the local business climate has remained steadfast.
Through business advocacy, leadership development, professional education, strategic partnerships, and community engagement, the Chamber provides members with valuable opportunities to connect, grow, and succeed. Signature programs and events—including Leadership Lake Norman, WINS (Women in Networking Successfully), Young Professionals, Business After Hours, Coffee Connections, Focus Friday, the Annual Business Expo, Golf Tournament, Diversity Council, Power Luncheons, ribbon cuttings, and numerous educational workshops—bring together business leaders, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to foster collaboration and support economic vitality across the Lake Norman region.
Recognizing that today's business landscape is constantly evolving, the Chamber has also embraced innovation as a cornerstone of its mission. Recent initiatives, including the highly successful Lake Norman AI Summit, demonstrate the Chamber's commitment to preparing businesses for the future by providing access to emerging technologies, thought leaders, and educational resources that help organizations remain competitive in a rapidly changing economy. By continually introducing new programming that addresses current business challenges and opportunities, the Chamber ensures its members are equipped with the knowledge and connections needed to thrive.
The Chamber's influence extends far beyond networking events. It serves as a trusted voice for business on issues affecting economic growth, workforce development, transportation, education, public policy, and quality of life throughout the region. Perhaps the Chamber's greatest achievement over nearly four decades has been its ability to unite diverse communities around a common purpose. Bill Russell is the President & CEO of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce with approximately 1,000 members serving the business community of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, and the greater Lake Norman region. He has served in that position since January of 1996.
