"Several years ago when we began looking for a place to retire our first priority was warmer winters as we are from Minnesota; our second priority was to live near a metropolitan city and an international airport. In Minnesota we lived on Lake Minnetonka, a large inland lake near Minneapolis. We never considered replicating that life style which is so unique until we discovered Great Lake Norman; also a huge inland lake near Charlotte. Needless to say, we were so excited and we are still as enthusiastic about the lake life style. Warmer winters, large lake with resort style living, right sized city and an airport... a dream area. Even more good news - in January, we are looking at the sparkling waters of Great Lake Norman, not the solid ice and snow of Lake Minnetonka. What makes Lake Norman "Great"?

All the recreational activities such as boating, tubing, water skiing, sailing, yacht clubs. There are local parks on the water filled with picnic areas, walking/biking paths and tennis courts. There are Dragon Boat Races and bass tournaments... you can golf on a lakeside country club course. There is resort type residential living all around the lake which includes picturesque sunrises and sunsets over Lake Norman. Just step out your door and you are on vacation near a thriving city full of culture, restaurants, business opportunities and major league sports. This is called "LIFE STYLE"! And Lake Norman is a "great lake"!

As a small business owner with a new business, every penny counts! Joining the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce has provided the most value in terms of exposure and meeting people. The Chamber has gone above and beyond in exceeding my expectations. Members of the chamber came out in full force for my ribbon cutting and open house. In a few short months I have met individuals who I have great confidence in doing business."

"I became involved in Lake Norman in 1985 with the purchase of Holiday Marina and I fell in love with the area. While developing 100 Norman Place, I built my personal house and moved to Lake Norman from Charlotte in 1990. Since making this my home, I have been involved in the Lake Norman YMCA, March of Dimes, the Lake Norman Regional EDC, New Dominion Bank, and the Lake Norman Chamber. I served on several committees in the early days of the Chamber and have always felt it was critical that the Lake area establish ourselves with a healthy employment base and not just be a bedroom community for Charlotte."

"Lake Norman Realty is very proud to be a charter member of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce. As a locally owned and independent firm, our community connections are vital to our success. Lake Norman Realty has been serving the Lake Norman region for 34 years, since being formed by my father, James Jennings in 1978. Over the years we have grown from a small real estate office with a handful of associates to a company with nearly 100 associates and staff and offices in Cornelius, Davidson, Denver, Mooresville, and Statesville. We believe in the power of the Chamber's network, and our commitment to this belief is evident in our firm's active memberships in four Chambers around the lake. Getting involved in the Chamber is a wonderful way to open doors to new friendships, serve our community, and grow our business as well. Keep up the great work, Lake Norman Chamber!"

"An outstanding, truly inspirational experience is how I would describe my participation in the Leadership Lake Norman Class of 2011. The community opened its arms, embraced, and educated our class. Our adventures and many experiences were enhanced by the wonderful people we met along the way. Most valuable of all were the wonderful relationships that were built with our community leaders and true friendships I continue to cherish made with my classmates."

"The Leadership Lake Norman program should be a prerequisite to any business owner in Lake Norman. The behind the curtain works our community was an eye opening experience to me, and I have lived and owned a business here for over 16 years. Leadership Lake Norman introduced us to our towns and county management of services and utilities and how they function, to the needs of our neighbors, to our past and future, and our local leaders civic, government and businesses. Our class mates brought many different perspectives' to the eye opening program, but the most valuable aspect of all was the relationships that were created."
