An integral part of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, the Diversity Council provides a forum for sharing vital information, networking and fostering professional development for minority and women businesses. Its mission is to help minority and women-owned businesses in Lake Norman grow and develop, as well as celebrate existing business that embrace diversity in everyday practice. The Annual Champions of Diversity Luncheon is a signature event of the Chamber of Commerce recognizing companies and individuals that exemplify diversity.

A new initiative of the 2017 Lake Norman Diversity Council is the collaboration with the three North Mecklenburg Towns Parks and Recreation Departments (Huntersville, Davidson, and Cornelius) to coordinate a Multi-Cultural Festival. This year's event is in collaboration with the Town of Cornelius and the Smithville Jazz Event which will take place Saturday, May 20th 3:00 to 9:00 pm.

2017 Goals include:
• Diversity Council presence at local events
• Promote community involvement in the Diversity Council
• Host the Lake Norman Regional Women’s Conference
• Host the Annual Diversity Luncheon in September
• Host a series of Lunch n’ Learns in partnership with Central Piedmont Community College – Merancas Campus (Huntersville)
• Host forum(s) for Chamber non-profits to help promote, educate and potentially identify Nonprofit Board Members and promote ongoing activities.
