Special Message to the Membership from 2020 Board Chair Richard Pappas

To the Membership of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce,

With the uncertainty surrounding the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, I wanted to reassure our members that your Lake Norman Chamber is committed to serve and support you during this difficult time.  As we navigate these uncharted waters and work to keep our individual boats afloat, it is imperative that we support each other.

Survival will require all of us to support our community and our local businesses, which do so much to support our region.  As your Chairman, I want to thank you for the work you do to keep the people of our community employed.  Thank you for continuing to serve our community in these unprecedented times.  Thank you for supporting our local charities helping those in need.

In addition to service to our Chamber, I also serve as a board member of the Ada Jenkins Center, and I have been encouraged to see many of you support our community through financial and volunteer contributions.  While it is easy to say we have a strong community, it is often difficult to show it through our actions during a difficult economic environment.

Our Chamber will continue to provide the most current available information, promote our member businesses, and engage elected officials to support our members, while our members continue to support our community.

Many of you have responded by supporting our restaurants, retail, and service businesses. Please continue to do so.  Information on those restaurants with take out or delivery or businesses with an online presence or supplying essential functions can be found on the homepage of our website at LakeNormanChamber.org.

Our chamber staff is putting together an informative Special Focus Friday which will be broadcast tomorrow virtually which includes healthcare officials, the Small Business Administration, Mecklenburg County, and more to keep you informed. Look for that information in another email and social media.

We commit to continuing our efforts to support our members during these challenging times, and ask that you please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you and your business.  We are here to serve you!  As they say, “Tough times never last, but tough people do.”  Please stay strong, continue to support our community and each other, and remember the Persian adage, “This too shall pass.”

Respectfully,

Richard Pappas

2020 Board Chair
