The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce awarded two $1,000 scholarships to two deserving high school students. The Ted H. Ousley Scholarship, managed by The Foundation for the Carolinas, is named for the late Ted Ousley, an executive with the Allstate Insurance Agency.
Ellison Rauch from North Mecklenburg High School and Lindsay Greene from Hough High School are recipients of the 2019 scholarship. Rauch has been accepted as an undergraduate at UNC Greensboro and Greene plans on attending The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this fall.
Bill Russell, president of the Chamber, stated both students excelled scholastically. “I was very impressed not only with the student’s accomplishments in the classroom, but their involvement in extracurricular activities. Both were involved in the community from serving as an English-speaking volunteer at a Summer Camp in Spain to volunteering with Angels of ’97 and the Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen. These two young ladies have a very bright and promising future ahead of them!”
