Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce PowerLuncheons are held six times a year and feature a business or community leader as a guest speaker. The focus may be on a wide range of topical issues including economic development, education, legislative activities and transportation initiatives, just to name a few.
Former North Carolina Governor Jim Martin keynoted the 2016 Salute to our elected officials in November 2016. Gov. Martin, a two term Republican from Davidson, served from 1985 to 1993. Supporting Spnsors of our PowerLuncheon series are Business Today and WSIC 1007. FM.
North Mecklenburg Public Safety Luncheon
The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce saluted the men and women who work tirelessly to protect and serve the families and businesses of the Lake Norman region at a Public Safety Luncheon held at Northstone Country Club in Huntersville. The eleventh annual event was emceed by Chamber president Bill Russell, who spoke to the critical role the police, fire, and first responders play in making the Lake Norman community a great place to live, work, and visit. Russell and 2016 Chamber Board Chair Callan H Bryan, presented awards along with Mayors Aneralla (Huntersville), Travis (Cornelius) and Woods (Davidson) to the most outstanding officer from each North Mecklenburg department, selected by their respective chief.
The awards program was presented by Wells Fargo Bank and sponsored by Lake Norman Publications, Central Piedmont Community College, WSIC 100.7 FM, and the North Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers.
The Lake Norman Chamber Public Service Award recipients for 2016 included: Officer John Martin - Cornelius Police Department, Detective James Stokes - Davidson Police Department, Officer Jesse Helms - Huntersville Police Department, Firefighters Ricky Overcash and Peter Blaich - Cornelius Lemley Fire Department, Captain Billy Todd - Davidson Fire Department, Firefighter Henry Cook - Huntersville Fire Department, and Officer Michael Tessari - North Mecklenburg Rescue Squad, Inc.
Crime Stopper Board Chair Tommy Davis presented the North Mecklenburg Crime Stopper of the Year to Peter Johnson - Superior Pools and Spas.
