On Friday, January 17th at 6:30 pm Chamber officers and members will gather at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius to celebrate this past year of accomplishments and reward key individuals, businesses, and organizations who set the benchmark in the Lake Norman region.

The prestigious Cashion Business Person of the Year, McIntosh Passion to Succeed Award as well as the Duke Citizenship & Service Award will be presented. The theme for the evening is “THE Chamber You Can Bank On!” and features Guest Speaker Jim Butman, President & CEO of TDS Telecom. In a November Referendum, voters in Davidson and Mooresville overwhelmingly approved the sale of Continuum, a municipal operated cable company, to TDS Telecom. A total of 94% of voters in the town of Davidson while 85.24% of Mooresville voters approved the referendum. TDS provides broadband internet, phone and TV entertainment services as well as other services to customers in not only suburban communities but rural as well. During his tenure with TDS Telecom, Jim has held numerous leadership positions including Chief Operating Officer and Group President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Operations. Butman will discuss the company’s plans for the cable provider as it serves the needs of our growing commercial and residential needs.

Entrepreneurship will continue to be a focus for the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce in 2020 as the Chamber works with the Lake Norman Economic Development Corporation and Central Piedmont Community College to promote business incubation and development in the lake region. In addition to Butman’s remarks, the Chamber will again present The McIntosh Law Firm Passion to Succeed (Entrepreneur of the Year) Award. The award is presented annually by firm founder and past chamber chairman Bob McIntosh. The program includes remarks by Sisson as well as the induction of new Board Chair Richard Pappas from Cornelius.
