On Friday, January 17th, Wendy Moran officially turned over the reigns as Board Chair of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce to Hilary Broadway at the Chamber's Annual Meeting held at the Peninsula Club in Cornelius. The event was keynoted by United States Congressman Robert Pittenger. It marked the first time in the 26-year existence of the chamber of commerce that two high profile women executives will serve as consecutive chairs of the Lake Norman Chamber Board. The Chamber has approximately 1,000 business members and serves the Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and greater Lake Norman region.
Bill Russell, president and CEO of the Chamber, states both executives bring different skillsets to the chamber of commerce which have already impacted the operations and marketing strategies of the regional business organization. "Wendy Moran's experience as a committee chairman, board member, and volunteer, along with her career in finance and banking, helped us focus on member value. We also implemented financial strategies which reduced expenses so those dollars could be reallocated to membership services. Hilary Broadway brings the unique perspective of harnessing technology to make work environments more productive and efficient."
Broadway, Public Policy Chair of the Chamber in 2010 and 2011, led the Chamber's Business Growth Division for the last two years and demonstrated her knowledge with a series of "Lunch and Learn" training programs. In 2014, the chamber will introduce several new initiatives utilizing technology, as well as working more collaboratively with other regional chambers and local partners, Visit Lake Norman and the Lake Norman regional EDC. In addition to her experience in the Chamber, Broadway has served on the Boards of the Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation, the Charlotte Regional Roads Committee, and the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association's Professional Standards Committee.
The Lake Norman Chamber is a regional business association and that regional approach is quite evident in the leadership of the organization. Moran, a Huntersville resident, is Vice President of People's Bank in Denver while Broadway, a Cornelius Resident, is a Realtor, Broker in Charge, and trainer for Allen Tate in Mooresville.
Additions to the 2014 Chamber Board also include: J. A. (Jay) Lesemann, Jr. CPA CGMA - Managing Member at Lesemann & Associates, PLLC CPAs and the immediate Past Chair of the N.C. Association of CPAs; Bill Ellison – partner in The McIntosh Law Firm, Sabrena Fernandez Marketing Manager - Servpro of Northwest Charlotte; and Tom Gettelman, PhD. - Carolinas Healthcare System and the new administrator for the CHS Behavioral Health Hospital in Davidson.
