Lake Norman Chamber Diversity Council
The Lake Norman Chamber has created a new division of the Chamber spearheaded by Eric Lewis, a business and leadership consultant with OneSCSI whose firm provides Career Management and Executive Recruiting, Training and Development. The goal of the new division is to arm women and minority business owners with the tools necessary to compete on a larger scale. Lewis, a Chamber Board Member states, “The focus of the program will be to stimulate business relationships between small, minority and women-owned businesses and major employers.” The program is a partnership with Fifth Third Bank which will be the Presenting Sponsor of the Chamber’s Women & Minority Business Development program for the next three years. The first seminar was held in June at the Chamber. It was entitled: “Doing Business with the Government” and featured Archibald Black, the Procurement Counselor with the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC). Event sponsors included Business Today and K.A.C. Bookkeeping Services, Inc. The program examined several key points: How to register your business; How to leverage your business with small business certifications; Small business goals for minorities and women owned businesses; and How to find government procurement opportunities.
