Lake Norman’s Premier Business Tradeshow Makes Its Return Expo Set for Thursday, May 13, 2010 at CPCC – North Campus
The Charlotte region’s largest business trade show is set to make a return to the stage on Thursday, May 13th at Central Piedmont Community College – North Campus in Huntersville. While Central Piedmont and Chamber officials are negotiating specifics, the date has been set and the event itself will take place in the Transport Systems Building on campus. The trade show, which was held for eight consecutive years from 2001 and 2008, is attended by 2,500 people and typically exhibits 180 Chamber of Commerce members and non-profits. The Expo provides Chamber members an opportunity to showcase their goods and services to the public and allows business to business networking. The event was previously held at Davidson College Belk Arena since 2002. Robert Reed, 2009 Chamber Chairman of the Membership Programs and Services Division, states the Chamber has been looking for a suitable site since Davidson officials informed the Chamber that the Baker Arena Complex was not available this past March. “The Baker Arena location was a great site for our Expo and we are very appreciative to Davidson College,” said Reed. “Unfortunately as a multi-use facility for the student athletes, it was not available for our use this past year. Nor is it likely to be in the foreseeable future. However, we have heard loud and clear from the membership this Expo is very important to the promotion of their business and we have been working hard to find a suitable location that meets our needs and the participant’s expectations.” Chamber President Bill Russell points out that the Expo typically uses 40,000 square feet of space, limiting the number of potential locations which can accommodate a show of its kind. “We will be seeking sponsors throughout December and January,” said Russell. Any member that would like to help plan and coordinate the Expo is encouraged to contact the Chamber at 704-892-1922.
